TIPS & MAINTENANCE

Some important things to remember to help ensure the move is a successful one:

1) Make sure the gap left around the tree is completely full of soil.

2) Ensure the dike around the tree is maintained to hold water in.

3) Leave no spaces around the roots, as new roots must extend into the soil.

4) Stake out the area with rope, hose, metal and wood stakes.

5) Keep ropes solid and secure, as the tree will settle slightly after planting.

6) All ropes should stay attached for two years to maintain straightness.

1) After planting, water with a slow stream until the formed dike around the tree stays full. Soak everything so that water can reach even the lowest roots.

2) Water at least 3-4 times a week for 2-3 weeks. After this period, ensure your trees receive water or rain every 7-10 days.

3) Be careful to never get water on the leaves during periods of direct sunlight. This will reduce shock and prevent sunburn damages.

4) After mid-September, water only once every 2 weeks and completely soak the area before the winter freeze to prevent damage.

1) After transplantation, use 10-52-10 as recommended.

2) For evergreens, RX-30 is recommended.

3) For leaf trees next season, RX-15 is recommended.

4) A good time for fertilizing trees is on May 1st and July 1st.

5) Avoid using weed killers in the immediate areas next to trees.

6) Never place lawn fertilizer, manure, plastic mulch, or fabric around the root ball.

1) Keep a close eye on your trees. Insects and other pests can cause problems, in particular with new growth.

2) Trees which have been moved are weak at first. Preventative spraying with Cygon or Lagon is usually recommended. Ask for further details regarding what is right for you.
